The Art of War
Europe, 1945. Bob Kemp, 20, is in the thick of it. Assigned to an infantry mortar squad, he sees bone-jarring action in Holland, Germany, and Czechoslovakia, and comes face to face with the horror and absurdity of war. Fortunately, Bob has his paintbrush and his wry sense of humor with him, and he makes good use of both, recording the plight of the average GI-of whatever country-in scores of remarkable watercolor drawings he now shares with us.
Bob says he was lucky to survive... and we're lucky he did.
